Biography: Theo Bastiaens is Vice President for Digitalisation & International Affairs at the Fernuniversität in Hagen, Germany. He is professor of Educational Technology at the Open University in the Netherlands. Bastiaens specific research interest is in Instructional Design and E-Learning. Lorenzo Cantoni, USI-Universita della Svizzera Italiana, Switzerland

Biography: Lorenzo Cantoni graduated in Philosophy and holds a PhD in Education and Linguistics. He is full professor at USI – Università della Svizzera italiana (Lugano, Switzerland), Faculty of Communication Sciences, where he is director of the Institute for Communication Technologies. He is also scientific director of the laboratories webatelier.net, NewMinE Lab: New Media in Education Lab, and eLab: eLearning Lab.
His research interests are where communication, education and new media overlap, ranging from computer mediated communication to usability, from eLearning to eTourism and digital Fashion, from ICT4D to eGovernment.

 

 

 

Manuel Castro, Spanish University for Distance Education, Spain

Biography: Electrical and Computer Engineering educator in the Spanish University for Distance Education (UNED) has a doctoral industrial engineering degree from the ETSII/UPM. Has been Director of the Department and ViceRector at the UNED. He co-chaired the conferences FIE 2014 and REV 2016. He is Fellow of IEEE and Past President of the IEEE Education Society. Has been awarded at IEEE (EDUNINE 2017, EDUCON 2011 and at the Education Society) and TAEE. Is co-editor of IEEE-RITA.

 

 

 

Rhonda Christensen, University of North Texas, USA

Executive Committee Member: 2017 – 2020

Biography: Rhonda Christensen, Ph.D. is Research Professor in Learning Technologies in the College of Information at the University of North Texas. She is co-director of the Institute for the Integration of Technology into Teaching and Learning. She serves as the Chair of the IT Council for the Society for Information Technology in Teacher Education (SITE). Her research interests are the impact of technology integration in education, STEM education in middle schools and mobile learning in education.

 

 

 

 

Gayle V. Davidson-Shivers, University of South Alabama, USA

Executive Committee Member: 2013 – 2018

Biography: Gayle V. Davidson-Shivers is a professor in Instructional Design and Development at the University of South Alabama. She’s been an Ed Media Executive Committee member since 2013. In her department, Counseling & Instructional Science, she is the Foundations Program Coordinator and developed two certificate programs: Human Performance Improvement and Instructional Design and Development for graduate students. She advises doctoral and master’s students and teaches online and blended courses in instructional design and performance improvement. Her research also focuses on online learning and instructional strategies.

 

 

 

Martin Ebner, Graz University of Technology, Austria

Executive Committee Member: 2008 – 2020

Biography: Martin Ebner is currently head of the Department Educational Technology at Graz University of Technology and therefore responsible for all university wide e-learning activities. He holds an Adjunct Prof. on media informatics and works also at the Institute for Interactive Systems and Data Science as senior researcher. His research focuses strongly on e-learning, mobile learning, learning analytics, social media and Open Educational Resources. Martin has given a number of lectures in this area as well as workshops and keynotes at international conferences. Mikhail Fominykh, Molde University College, Norway

Executive Committee Member: 2017 – 2020

Biography: Mikhail Fominykh received his PhD in Computer and Information Science at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology in 2012. Mikhail works on several EdTech R&D projects, as a researcher at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Associate Professor at Molde University College, an adjunct professor at the Volga State University of Technology and a project manager at Europlan-UK ltd. The highlight of his work is an EU Horizon 2020 project WEKIT http:/wekit.eu/.

 

 

 

Erkko Sointu, University of Eastern Finland, Finland

Executive Committee Member: 2017 – 2020

Biography: Erkko Sointu is a tenure track postdoctoral researcher at the University of Eastern Finland (UEF). His interests lie in the future of learning and teaching and, more specifically, in the development and utilization of Flipped Learning and Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK). Erkko is the academic lead of Flipped Learning in Higher Education project funded by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture. Erkko is also a trained teacher with experience of both comprehensive and higher education.

Biography: Edgar Weippl is Research Director of SBA Research and associate professor at TU Wien. His research interests are information security, awareness training and teaching information security to engineers.
Edgar is member of the editorial board of Computers & Security (COSE), organizes the ARES conference and was General Chair of SACMAT 2015, PC Chair of Esorics 2015, General Chair of ACM CCS 2016 and is PC Chair of SACMAT 2017.

 

 

 

Olaf Zawacki-Richter, University of Oldenburg, Germany

Biography: Olaf Zawacki-Richter is professor of educational technology at the University of Oldenburg (Germany), Faculty of Education and Social Sciences, Center for Lifelong Learning. Olaf has published widely in the area of online distance education, open learning and international education. He is a member of the editorial board of the “International Review of Research in Open and Distributed Learning” (IRRODL), “Distance Education”, and “Open Learning”.
